Understanding fabric properties and textures

Fabric Texture Glossary

Each material offers distinct tactile and thermal properties that influence comfort and sleep quality.

Percale fabric texture

Percale Weave

One-over-one-under weave creates a crisp, matte finish. Cool to the touch with excellent breathability. Thread count typically ranges from 200 to 400. Best for warm climates or those who sleep hot.

Sateen fabric texture

Sateen Finish

Four-over-one-under weave produces a smooth, slightly lustrous surface. Softer drape with more warmth retention. Higher thread counts enhance the silky feel. Suitable for cooler environments.

Temperature & Comfort Ratings

Understanding how different materials respond to body temperature and environmental conditions.

Cool Rating

Percale and bamboo excel at heat dissipation. These materials feel cool against the skin and work well in warm climates or for individuals who tend to sleep hot.

Warm Rating

Sateen and flannel provide more insulation. These options suit cooler environments and those who prefer additional warmth during sleep.

Neutral Rating

Linen and standard cotton offer balanced temperature regulation. They adapt to body temperature and work across various climate conditions.
